Maundy Thursday Passover Seder Meal + March Financial Faithfulness

Maundy Thursday Passover Seder Meal + March Financial Faithfulness

Dear Good Shepherd Family and Friends:

I’m quickly falling in love with you. Each week that passes I am feeling more comfortable and at home. Thank you for your receptivity and openness.

I tell people everywhere I go that I have never seen a church with more core strength or as much potential as Good Shepherd UMC.

Have you heard about our upcoming Maundy Thursday Passover Seder Meal? It’s going to be an extraordinary experience. It will help you to learn about Jesus’ Jewishness and the origins of what we call Holy Communion. Mark your calendars for Thursday, April 18 and sign up for Noon or 6 PM seating. Look below for details. BTW: We still need table hostesses and hosts. (Click on the Seder Dinner graphic to register or click HERE.)

Thank you for your financial faithfulness. The February financials, which shown below, don’t look very good, but thanks to your help, the March numbers look better. One of my long-term financial concerns for Good Shepherd is that the building debt payments will be increasing. So your consistent stewardship will be needed and appreciated.

Join us on Sunday in the Worship Center at 9:15 or 10:45 AM. Invite a neighbor or friend to come with you. If you’re ill or out of town, join us online at www.goodchurch.us. My message will be entitled:

VOICES FROM THE OTHER SIDE

Luke 9:28-36; Hebrews 12:1-3

May the Lord bless you and keep you.

Exciting Things Coming Next Week

Exciting Things Coming Next Week

Dear Good Shepherd Family and Friends:

Thank you for your warm and generous welcome.  I am enjoying becoming  part of your fellowship.   I have been amazed to discover that Good Shepherd has more potential than any congregation in Texas Methodism.

Pick up a copy of my book, “More Spiritual Lessons From Life.”  It’s available in the narthex.  It’s full-color, and it’s free.

Several people have asked how to sign up for my daily email.  Go to http://JimsDailyAwakenings.com.  If you sign up, I will come to see you every morning at 5:30AM.  It’s free, too.

Two things coming up in the next week are important to our church:

 1.  My sermon this Sunday may be the most important one I preach—

“Learning to Pray This Prayer Will Change Your Life”

       Luke 11:1-4

Please come at 9:15 or 10:45AM, and invite a friend to come with you!

If you’re out of town, join us on the web.

2. Our ALL CHURCH  Family Worship Experience on Wednesday, March 27—

Come at 5:30PM for hot dogs and hamburgers; stay for worship at 6:15 PM

In the weeks to come, you will receive an invitation to a Sunday afternoon “Getting to Know Our Interim Pastor” fellowship event.  And you’ll be getting a letter notifying you of the week I will be praying for your family.  Look for these notices.

The Finance Committee just informed us that giving dropped in February.   Your help to resolve this deficit would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to seeing you Sunday.

Jim Jackson

Interim Senior Pastor

Thank You, Good Shepherd

THANK YOU, GOOD SHEPHERD

Your warm greeting last Sunday brought me joy.  I look forward to serving as your pastor for the next six months.

In the weeks and months to come you will receive an invitation to attend an informal, Sunday afternoon “Getting to Know Our Interim Pastor” gatherings.  Until then, if I can serve you in some way do not hesitate to call on me.

Please join us for worship this Sunday at 9:15 (Traditional Worship) or 10:45 AM (Contemporary).  I will be preaching on:

WHY I AM A CHRISTIAN
I Peter 3:13-16

If you are unable to be present, turn in online via goodchurch.us.

By the way, we will be using Lay Scripture Readers in worships from now on.  If you would like to serve, please contact Sterling Allen (sterlinga@goodchurch.us).

Looking forward to seeing you Sunday and getting to know you as time passes.
